Sarah Shugarman is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist, award-nominated composer and educator. Sarah graduated from the University of Toronto and the School of Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University and began her career as a performer and recording artist. As a violinist and percussionist she has contributed to numerous scores for tv and film, Canadian indie, roots and pop albums; and performed with a range of celebrated Canadian musicians.

As a composer, Sarah’s music has been commissioned and performed throughout Canada, the US (New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Austin, San Francisco), Mexico and Japan and has included performances by Limon Dance Company (NY), Toronto Dance Theatre, Kaeja d'Dance, inDANCE, Dusk Dances, Alberta Ballet Theatre, NY Summer Stage, Across Oceans, Dreamwalker Dance Co., Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre, Toru Shimazaki and Reiko Matsuoka Ballet.

Sarah has taught in the departments of Music and Dance at Kobe Jogakuin University (Japan), Canada's National Ballet School, OISEUT, and at the University of Toronto Schools where she teaches music and is the Coordinator of Expressive Arts.
